A First Settler of Boston, MA,, Stamfield, Fairfield, and Wethersfield, CT

1) Thomas came to Boston on the Frances April 1634
age 48 with wife Alice age 47 and children Anna 14,
Rose 11, Thomas 10, and Rebecca 9.

2) He came to Wethersfield with the first settlers, 1635.

3) Occupation: A carpenter

4) He sold his lands to George Wyllys, on 25 March 1640.

5) He removed to Stamford, CT where he lived untill
1648, when he sold to John Holly and settled in Fairfield.

6) He may have been related to Thomas Morehouse,
whose holdings adjoined his in Wethersfield, and
who accompanied him in his subsequent migrations.

7) Will 21 July 1655, proved 25 October 1655;
Children by former wife Alice, Thomas, Jane, Tamsen,
Margaret, Sarah Hannah, Rose, Rebecca: Wife Mary,
and children by her, Stephen, Matthew, Mary, Ruth,
Abigail, Isaac. Fairfield Deeds mention 18 January 1658
that "John Banks hath married Mary Sherwood the
relict."

A First Settlers of Sudbury, Middlesex and Worchester counties, MA
1) John Moore came to the Americas in
the ship "Planter" from London,England in 1635, aged 24.
2) He bought land from Deacon Edmund Rice in1642, in the part of Sudbury which later
became Wayland. 3) In 1645 he bought the house lot
of Deacon John Stone, "also all the fences that are now
standing about any part of said land, and
also all the boards and shelves that are now about the house, whether
fast or loose". 4) He took the oath of fidelity at Sudbury, June 9 1645 and was a townofficer there. 5) The territory of Lancaster was incorparated May 18,1653. On March 11, 1652/3
John Moore subscribed to the Lancaster townand church covenant and drew
40 acres of land there on November 30,1653. This land was in
South Lancaster at the corner of Maine Streetand George
Hill Road and included
the present
Chandler property and
that part of the Thayer homestead farm along George Hill
Road toRoper's Brook on the back road. He was a prominent
citizen, farm and
land owner at Sudbury and Lancaster. 6) Immigrant ancestor of most of the families of this name in Middlesex and Worchester
counties, Mass. 7) Was born in England.
8) He settled at Sudbury, Mass. where he bought from Edmund Rice, a house
and land in what is now Wayland. 9) He married Elizabeth, daughter of Philimon Whale of Sudbury. 10) He took oath of fidelity
in 1645.
11) Died 1674.
12) His will proved in 1674 bequeathed to his wife, Elizabeth. Children, all born in
Sudbury except perhaps Elizabeth. 13) John Moore was at Sudbury by
1643 and may have come to America from London in the "Planter" in 1635
at the age of twenty-four or he may
have arrived in 1638. He was twice married, his first wife's
name being Elizabeth and he had several children.
His second wife was Ann,daughter of John Smith. His daughter
Mary married Richard Ward and Lydia (born June 24, 1643)
married in 1664 Samuel Wright 14) "There is some question as to
the number of time John
Moore married. The 1st wife Elizabeth
everyone agrees with along with their 2children.
The confusion is with Elizabeth Rice. Some documents state he was
married a third time to a Elizabeth Whale but there are some sources
that state
that
Elizabeth Whale was the married name of Elizabeth
Rice. Anyway I use only Elizabeth Rice which I feel
is correct." 'John
