practicing on the North American continent during
the Colonial period, through 1783.

Membership in the Order of Descendants of Pirates & Privateers is open to
men and women 21 years of age and over, who are lineally descended
from any of the following, of the period 1609-1865:
(1) Officers and Crew of Pirate Ships, of any Nation, so long as such Pirates
were of, or engaged the American Colonies or Nation.
(2) Officers and Crew of American Privateers, including those of the Confederacy,
(3) Coastal Raiders,
(4) Shore-based parties engaged in the diversion and scuttling of vessels,
(5) Any person who engaged in the establishing, supporting, and/or maintaining
any of the above. For instance, ship owners, investors, bonders, those issuing
Letters of Marque, etc. The involvement must be direct- those merely
employed in ship-building do not necessarily qualify.

Those individuals eligible for membership shall be
at least eighteen years of age with legitimate descent from
(1) a member of The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of
Massachusetts who served between the years 1637-1774;
(2) a minister who preached the Election Sermon during the years 1638-1774;
(3) Governor John Winthrop,
(4) Deputy Governor Thomas Dudley,
(5) a member of the Council or a delegate to the General Court
in 1638 when the Company Charter was granted,
(6) members of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of
Massachusetts "by right of descent," or
(7) members of the National Society of Women Descendants
of The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company.

Men and women over the age of eighteen years, who are lineal descendants
of men and women, who, between the years 1633 and 1662, resided
anywhere within the bounds of the present-day state of Connecticut
may be eligible for membership. The fact that the land on which
they lived was formerly claimed by another jurisdiction is immaterial.

his successors and their heirs shall be eligible to membership
in this Order, provided, always, that such candidates are of
excellent character and are considered qualified and worthy
by the officers of this Order. Membership is by invitation only.

Invitation to membership in The Order of the First Families of Maryland
is extended by the Governing Council to individuals, eighteen years
of age or older, of good moral character and respectable standing in society,
who are acceptable to The Order, and who have a verifiable, lineal descent from either:
(1) Sir George Calvert, The First Lord Baltimore, who was granted
the Palatinate of Maryland by King Charles I of England, or
(2) an ancestor who aided in the establishment of the Palatinate of Maryland
or who was an office holder, real property owner or resident in Maryland
prior to 31 December 1734. Those members admitted prior to July 1, 2005,
when the ancestor cutoff date was July 4, 1776, will continue to be in
good standing, and their relatives who are the member’s second cousins
or closer and are lineal descendants of that original ancestor will
remain eligible for admission to the Order on the basis of
that original ancestor.
