COULD HAVE
COULD HAVE
I
curled up on the couch to read
And listen to the
storm outside
The book relaxed
me to my core
While winds blew
fiercely near my door
A tree uprooted
whipping round
It crunched then
banged onto the ground
With thunderous
noise to match the sky
As I just sat and
wondered why
I sipped tea late
into the night
And read to keep
my mind off fright
Adventures happening
far away
Not knowing one
was here today
Not realizing, my
mind took flight
And I missed out
on all this night
While safe and warm
I curled and read
I could have “lived”
a storm instead
