PIONEER ANCESTORS:
How on earth did they ever endure;
those incredible
ancestors of ours?
What struggles,
what hardships with
wolves at their
door, both
metaphorically and
literally.
They traveled West
to escape
Spring floods, Summer
droughts,
Fall fires, and
Winter blizzards.
After generations,
they had endured all
they were going
to!
They had something
special, something which
set them apart from
their “stay behind” relatives.
They were compelled
to travel West by a
gigantic inner strength
and belief in tomorrow
which we, their
descendants, if we’re lucky,
have inherited.
