SUMMER (DAY ONE)

River water lapping at my feet
as I sit on the bank with
skirt hiked as high as descent allows
using shells to scoop cool water

 

 

a pink conch shell.

bunch of alien eyes all connected to one orb.

 

For my hair, face / and when no one’s
looking / a quick opening of my
blouse allowing cold river water to shock
then soothe / places unseen

Yesterday it was just me and
the river / yesterday I swam naked;
a single drop of water, a fish,
an integral part of the river itself

bake in the stifling heat / scooping tiny
circles of cool water like a lady on this,
The opening day of Tourist Season
